Choirboys skate to raise awareness of fundraising appeal for Chapel Royal Hampton Court Palace

The media turned out in force to see 17 Chapel Royal Choirboys aged 8-13 take to the ice at Hampton Court Palace’s Ice Rink. The boys were decked out in their beautiful red robes, creating a spectaculars sight, with Hampton Court Palace as their backdrop as they glided around the ice rink.

Hampton Court Palace cleared the ice rink especially for this first ever photo shot of the boys on ice. Keeping a close eye was Anna Musil, the Matron of Robes for The Chapel Royal, Hampton Court Palace who is also rather conveniently, a former World Professional Ice Dance Champion.

This unique chorister skating session was one of several activities that took place to promote the launch of The Choral Foundation, which is raising £1.5m to ensure that Hampton Court Palace will always have a choir.  Fundraising will help to finance music lessons for the choristers and has also paid for the refurbishment of the historic organ at The Chapel.
